Manifesto

Well.....

as a new "collaborator" on this music/image blog, i thought id take a second for introduction (hi...my names casey....Ive been sober for....)etc. If so much as for the readers as the fellow collaborators and musicians. To speak a bit about inspirations and The Process of creating for me. (yes a smidgen of namedropping into the astral)

I grew up playing piano. Saw Tool ten days after September 11th 2001. (thats september 21st for all you left brainers). Was blown away/frightened by danny careys inhuman drum ability and took up drums. played/studied kit for 5-6 years, and got to college and realized what a pain in the ass it is to play drums in the city. Moved focus to tabla, which i studied for a couple years as well. I still frolic in the realms of both.
During this time a band of my friends in high school (m o d u l o by name, after a sacred multi level inter dimensional Deity revealed during a certain botanical induced experience) evolved into a live playing band, which i did vocals and electronic hand drums for. Realizing the slow speed at which a group works, i began a stockpile of my own ideas...riffs, poems, beats, images...which began to build.

When Modulo went on hiatus at the end of 2008, it seemed the perfect time to launch this solo endeavor. I spent a lot of time researching how to pull it off, and decided Logic 8 would be the best platform, and dove in. (reading the 1000 plus page manual on T rides... strange looks induced). The name, K.C. Solaris...a sort of mirror of myself built party on a dream induction i had...I now record, produce, mix and master myself, preferring to understand the process as opposed to outsourcing. I have more ideas then i know what to do with, and for each album Ive posted on the .com, i have about 5 more in the works. Its frightening, confusing, and a lot of fun. Some are weird. Some are built on song structure and meant to work their way in/out/through the mind and body. Some are weird and built on song structure. Some you can probably understand better then i. but that's the fun?

After a couple of years on this....here i am. For the moment, I'm working mostly within the program, using the ultra beat program and a variety of the synths i have come to like and enjoy tweaking. Outside the system, i have been playing with the Synesthesia Mandala drum pad, Kaossilator, Microkorg, and Abletron Launchpad. All good fun. The next frontier is the live show, which should be rearing its ugly head next month. Ive been dabbling in Mainstage live, Djay and Ourstage. Maybe ill give some feedback on what i end up deciding.

I got into electronic music for the main reason, that it allows you to manifest your ideas quickly and efficiently. Unlike many in the scene, i cant spew off hundreds of trance or house artists i listen too. In fact, much of my inspiration draws from outside the genres, and in many cases, outside of music itself. On enough MDMA and LSD, I'm fairly certain you could find god in a drum loop on repeat. Any takers? I am a firm believer in sacred geometry....the idea of breaking things down and rebuilding to understand. Maybe ill write a bit further about that at points at it applies i believe to music, art, and any aspect of life you want it too. Religion, Art, Evolution, The Occult, Psychedelics, Shamanism, Nature... all are aspects i draw on. I tend to view music as a form of catharsis, and a way to understand things that you find confusing or disappointing about yourself or the world around you. Im a fan of emotions. I think we have them for a reason. and should listen to them, rather then bury them. A way to move through them, and leave them behind, so we are free to move to another emotion. And good for dancing.

Musically.... Tool, Trent Reznor, Omar- Rodriguez Lopez and his many solo projects, Mike Patton, Frank Zappa, Saul Williams, John Zorn, Philip Glass, Meshuggah, Sigur Ros, Flaming Lips, Godspeed you black emperor!, El-P, Dirty Projectors and So many many many more.

So thats me. I have a lot of other interests too, and wear a lot of hats. Metaphorically. And Physically. My site is linked on the side. Follow it and be bombarded by my creative rampage....as was the plan, this will be mainly for influences and cool stuff.

boom. hello friends. big things soon
