Physics of Sound: Harmonics and The Unified Theory | Music Instinct

Cool little blurb regarding the connection between music and physics when broken down to fundamental layers

Le Oui.

At first i felt strange turning my collected images into a music blog, but after watching the first in a Splices documentary series, featuring Richie Hawtin, I realized the projected visualizations i naturally follow while listening to music can be used to my advantage. I paint best to rhythmic, progressive music anyways, so of course the reverse can absolutely influence production.

Schlieren (from German; singular "Schliere", meaning "streak") are optical inhomogeneities in transparent material not visible to the human eye. Schlieren physics developed out of the need to produce high-quality lenses void of these inhomogeneities. These inhomogeneities are localized differences in optical path length that cause light deviation. This light deviation is converted to shadow in a schlieren system.

adaptability includes photography.

or in a more literal format the

                                   Shadowgraph
an optical method that reveals non-uniformities in transparent media like air, water, or glass. It is related to, but simpler than, the schlieren and schlieren photography methods that perform a similar function. Shadowgraph is a type of flow visualisation.

In principle, we cannot directly see a difference in temperature, a different gas, or a shock wave in the transparent air. However, all these disturbances refract light rays, so they can cast shadows. The plume of hot air rising from a fire, for example, can be seen by way of its shadow cast upon a nearby surface by the uniform sunlight.

This is adept to rockets visibly breaking the sound barrier.

Nature~~~~~~~~~~~~

Nick Warren has many awesome sets. The recent Isolated Mix is, technically, yes, a set. But really, with the exception of low key background music (and of course the potential to be whatever) it's an hours worth of nature's chimes and floating ambient chords. There are some bubbles. There are some cool progressions. There are some loops. There is a lot of material here & you may not know what you want until you've found what you're looking for. Explore! It's nature. That's what you're supposed to do.

Simian ~~~~~

Before Simian Mobile Disco, whose recent single Cruel Intentions was remixed by house/ techno/ R&B producer DJ Pierre and dropped by Jody Wisternoff last December, there was Simian. Producing a seriously mixed bag of tunes that purveyed Electronic, Rock, Reggae, Hip Hop, Pop, Classical, Funk, Soul, Jazz, Latin, Folk, World, and Country, Simian's Never Be Alone (We Are Your Friends // 2002) is well known thanks to Justices' remix, which stepped up the dance quality, but retained the melodic, indie nu-disco style perpetrated by the English foursome.  With a growing interest in remixing, half of Simian (James Ford and Jas Shaw)  formed Simian Mobile Disco on the side under Kitsuné Music. They remind me of a greener, experimental version of the Beatles with a lot more variation.
